# Know when your service fails—and when it recovers.

Sentinely Ping is uptime monitoring that checks your websites, APIs, TCP ports and DNS names as often as every minute and alerts you when one goes down and again when it recovers.

Checks run from one Sentinely region. Every check, incident and recovery is kept in one timeline.

First monitor takes minutes · verify alerts during the trial

## What can Ping monitor?

### HTTP and HTTPS

Check status codes, response time, optional response text, headers, and request bodies.

### TCP and DNS

Verify a TCP port accepts connections or a hostname resolves from the configured check region.

### One-minute intervals

Paid plans can schedule checks every minute, with atomic leases preventing duplicate workers.

### TLS certificate tracking

Record certificate validity and alert as an HTTPS certificate approaches expiration.

### Down and recovery alerts

Send incident and recovery notifications by email and the configured Slack integration.

### Incident history

Keep response-time checks, failure causes, recoveries, and uptime history together.

Failure lifecycle

## How does Ping avoid false alarms?

Ping opens one incident only after repeated failures (two consecutive failed checks by default) and closes it automatically on recovery. Alert delivery errors are recorded without losing the incident itself.

A due monitor is leased by one worker
The target is checked with a bounded timeout
Repeated failures open one incident
Recovery closes the incident and notifies the team

## How do I set up uptime monitoring with Ping?

Most monitors take under a minute to create. Test the alert path during the trial.

### 1. Add a monitor

Choose HTTP, HTTPS, TCP or DNS, enter the URL or host, and pick a check interval of 1, 3, 5, 10 or 15 minutes.

### 2. Decide what counts as up

Optionally set the expected status code, a keyword the response must contain, a timeout, and how many days before SSL expiry to warn you.

### 3. Get the alert, then the recovery

Repeated failures open one incident and alert you by email and Slack. When the target responds again, Ping closes it and sends a recovery notice.

## Ping questions

### How often does Ping check my website?

As often as every minute. You can choose a 1, 3, 5, 10 or 15 minute interval for each monitor.

### Where do Ping checks run from?

From a single check region. Sentinely does not offer multi-region checks today, so Ping confirms reachability from that one region.

### What can Ping monitor?

HTTP and HTTPS endpoints (status code, response time and an optional keyword), TCP ports that should accept connections, and DNS names that should resolve.

### Does Ping warn me before an SSL certificate expires?

Yes. HTTPS monitors record certificate validity and alert you a configurable number of days before the certificate expires.

### Will one slow response wake me up?

No. By default Ping opens an incident only after two consecutive failed checks, and it sends one recovery notice when the target is healthy again.

### How is Ping different from Agent Pulse?

Ping checks a URL or port from the outside. Agent Pulse waits for your cron jobs, workers and AI agents to check in, which covers work that has no URL.

## Works with the rest of Sentinely

- [Agent PulseHeartbeat monitoring for cron jobs, workers and AI agents.](https://sentinely.app/agent-pulse)
- [PulseLinux server metrics, services, ports and stale-agent alerts.](https://sentinely.app/pulse)
- [StatusA public status page for the monitors you choose.](https://sentinely.app/status)
- [GuardAWS spend spikes and resource changes, read-only.](https://sentinely.app/guard)

Every product is included in one plan. [Compare Indie, Agency and Scale](https://sentinely.app/pricing)

## Put selected monitors on your public status page.

Share live component status without exposing private monitor URLs, credentials, or internal metadata.
